My boyfriend of a long time practices Nichiren buddhism. For Christmas, I want to get him a nice leather bracelet with nam-myoho-renge-kyo and the lotus flower involved in it somehow (perhaps engraved in it, or on a charm). Where might I find something like this, or a place that would custom engrave it onto a pre-made leather bracelet? Would a bead shop sell charms of buddhist symbols? I've looked on the internet but can't find exactly what I'm looking for. I live in the metro Detroit area and it'd be cool if someone could reccomend a place for me.
Engraved leather bracelet- personalized?
To messageo:
Yes, Buddhists practice non violence. But no, not all Buddhists are vegan -- only Mahayana school of monks are definitely vegan, the rest (Theravada and Vajrayana monks and all layperson) are not necessarily vegan.
I also don't think the karmic effect of buying a leather bracelet is as serious as what you have described. It is not an act of direct killing. It is not forbidden by the doctrine (canon).
Reply:try an Satanic website!!!!!!
Reply:Don't buddhists practice non violence and are vegan? Wouldn't getting something in leather be sort of inappropriate? You don't want him coming back in the next life as a cow that gets made into bracelets do you?
