I am making a model of a flower and i need a material that holds it's form but is moldable for the petals?

i am making a model of a lighting fixture that is in the form of a lotus flower. my model will be lit with an incandesent bulb. i need a material for the petals. so obviously i would need a material that could be close to the light bulb. i have wire that i could cover, but with what? if it was a material that would be easier to work with than covering wire. i need it to be moldable so that i can manipulate the petals. something that lets light through is preffered. so if anyone has any suggestions i would love to hear them. thank you!

use those colour transparent plastics paper... That can be found in bookstores
Reply:Stiff stuff. Seriously @ Walmart craft section. It's glue-like for fabric, dries in the form you mold it while it's wet.
